Space Cadets.

It's very funny.

But it's so mean.

But it is very funny.

But it's also very mean.

For those not Britward, Space Cadets is a show whereby the TV company have picked 10 people from hundreds who applied for the "biggest challenge you'll ever face" in the form of an undescribed reality TV show. They psychologically tested the applicants for susceptability and suggestability, picked the 10 best, and then told them they were to be flown to Russia in order to train as the first ever British Space Tourists.

These 10 people currently believe that they are in Russia training and that in 4 days 3 of them will get to go into space. In actual fact they flew them around England for 4 hours, landed in an old military base in Ipswich which had been carefully dressed to look like a Russian base, told them it was Russia and started training them using Russian and English actors as lecturers and trainers.

There's even an aircraft simulator with a tunnel attached to it, so that when the cadets walk through it they will believe they are entering the shuttle. They will then 'take them to space'. So far all the cadets are utterly convinced they are a/ in Russian Space Camp, training, and b/ have the chance to really go into space.

If the cadets don't guess it's a hoax they'll 'go into space' for five days. Then, when they 'land' they'll be told it was a big joke and that the whole country is pissing themselves with laughter.

But they'll get prize money. So that's alright then.

****

I let TLB watch it this evening, and then I asked him if he'd rather have the prize money or have actually gone into space. He said, "Gone into space because space is amazing and I'd like to see what the Earth really looks like because I don't believe it's just green and blue."
